Stress is something I like to think we all try to avoid. It’s never fun to feel overwhelmed or like you have a million things to do. Dealing with stress might be my forte now with my current schedule and situation. It’s a blessing and a curse all at the same time, but I can proudly say that compared to a few years ago, my abilities to deal with stress have improved in ways I never thought possible.
Stress used to cripple me. I would cry at the slightest thought of a deadline, of the looming assignments that were over my head. It’s a terrible feeling and at the time, I thought it was all “out of my control” and “bad luck”. Thank God I was wrong because yikes – life would be one tough road is that was the case.
Control what you can control.
This became my mantra over three years ago. It saved me from becoming overwhelmed by stress. It also reminds me that there are many things that I simply can’t control. You can’t control the weather, deadlines set at school or work, unexpected incidents in life. BUT you can control how you react. You can control if you let it get to you (or not).
You are amazing. You’re brilliant. You’re capable of incredible things. A little bump in the road will not derail you unless you let it.
Let’s kick stress to the curb for good!
Act, don’t react to stressful situations.
By taking ACTION you are give yourself power. If you REACT – you let emotions win. Sit down, breathe, make a plan.
Taking care of yourself is key in preventing and reducing stress. This includes fueling your body correctly, exercising, getting enough sleep, drinking enough water and so much more. Self care is critical in keeping stress down.
Become a debbie downer when stress is looming doesn’t do you any good. Having a positive growth mindset is a critical part of this process. You are deserving. You are worthy. You do not deserve negative energy in your life. When life gives you lemons, made lemonade!
